Gas

How much gas can you actually put into your tank when you fuel up? The most I have put in is 14 gallons and it stops and this is after I run the tank close to dry. So I dont know if this is a problem everyone has or just me. It is just really annoying because the tank claims to be a 18 gallon.

my jimmy , 2001, says 16 gals too, but i won't let it run too dry, i heard once that it ain't good for the injection to run dry, but a couple of times, by my own misjudgement, it was on the left of E, and took 15.3.

Re: Gas

They put 16 gallon tanks in the 01 Jimmy? I think I am just going to assume I have a 16 gallon tank too since that would make the most sense since yesterday when pumping gas little over 14 gallons made my tank overflow. Screw what my manual says I have a 16 gallon tank. Thanks for the help guys.

whoa there pardner, some jimmy's have a smaller tank, depends on what joe 6 pack saw on the order sheet, or which one was closest at break time. the vin and rpo will tell you what was computer ordered, but the proof is in the tank. if it won't hold 15, you got the 2 door tank, which is 14+-gals. my jimmy was a local "touring option" with different codes, so i got a non-rpo silver side border and some other piddley things. i know these things as in my mis-spent youth, i built cars for chrysler in belvidere, ill and i worked for 6 months on the gas tank install line!!!! i don't think during that time we ever got 3 in a row right, just stick a tank in and bolt it down.
always check the build date and the shift date/code, as the first hour of each shift, the last half hour of each shift and the last 1/2 day before a holiday, or the first half day after a holiday, the car probably went through at least 2-3 times before it got done right.:evillol :
