Fixing a warped model kit body..
I need to fix a warped body. I'm currently thinking of ideas. The basic problem is, that after I stripped of some Lacquer paint, and re-applied the same paint, for some reason the sill of the body on one side has popped out. I'm thinking of mounting on the chassis with CA glue, and then using a hair dryer on a meduim heat to slowly form it back into shape, and fill and sand any small creases or anything else..
Once re-formed, use a debonder to remove, and hopefully I might get this working again.... It's not that bad, and I don't think it's a write off, but it really does need fixing. No idea why the paint made it bend out like that, must have weakened the body, as I used DOT 4 to remove the paint... yep, what a mistake... I should have used Isopropyl instead... Thanks |

Re: Fixing a warped model kit body..
Yep, seen Dot 4 cause body issues before here too.
Hot water and a gentle hand could work, but I have found brake fluid to weaken the plastic so you best be careful.
