Why a catback?
Hey, Just wondering why everyone goes with a catback system instead of just replaceing the muffler. Would the gains be about the same? I'm looking at this way because It would be much cheaper and I don't want to buy a catback just to change exhaust nextyear to true duals. Also I was wondering, if I was to take out my stock muffler, cut everything out of it and put it back in, does it sound good? I want something louder than stock but I like the stock look. Also would I get any performance gains from this and would they be similar to a catback system? I've considered a cutout but I prefer to see my exhaust coming out of both rear tips on cool days.
Thanks, Beene |

The main thing like viper said is a cat back eliminates the stock 2.5 or 2.25 in pipe after the cats and get a 3 in for better flow...If you go with a exhaust with magnaflow they flow great and have good sound when you get on it but nice and mellow at idle or putting around. Good luck with whatever you decide to do...
