2000 civic need help w/ dash lights

My instrument panel lights are very dim. The dimmer switch has no affect on the lights. How can I test the dimmer switch to see if it is the cause and what else should I check? Thanks, Ed

Use a multimeter to check the resistance? Is there alot of miles on the car? If so, the bulbs may just need to be replaced. Realtivly easy to do.
