instant smoke galore=

1992 paseo with 145,000 miles. driving ok today and all of a sudden smoke galore started coming out of the tail pipe.also i heard some thing sounded like valves clicking,tapping,etc.previously this car did not smoke at all and ran fine with just a little oil leaking from a couple of places. i drove it about 1/2 mile to home and parked it. question = what would make it start smoking so quickly?

miracles happen===========yesterday the shady tree mechanic checked it out. we ran it for 30 minutes and it did not smoke. go figure!who knows ? now i plan on driving it a few days and keeping one eye on the dip stick and coolant resivoir . will keep you guys informed.

and quick too. i then tried using 20/50 with an oil additive. it helpred for about 1 mile. then smoke as usual.

Just a Thought... Have you checked the head gasket? My car smoked pretty bad before I replaced the head gasket.
