Just purchased o1 Blazer. Gas gauge acts erratic. sometimes registers right other shows empty and low fuel light on. This happens sometimes while idling other times it can do it anytime. Any suggestions
|

Yep, my 01 4wd 4dr has that too and the 1 piece pump sender is $300 Delco #MU-85 so look up at rockauto and click on the more info by the pump and see a pic of the redesined model. 2 door and 4 door are diff.

Your sending unit is definately bad. I don't think you can purchase just the sending unit. You'll have to buy the fuel pump assembly. As far as it damaging your fuel pump, it will not damage it. The sending unit is only used for determine the amount of fuel it your tank. However, if your truck has 75K to 100k miles on it, replace the fuel pump anyway. It will go out on you somewhere around those miles. You can thump the botton of the tank with a rubber hammer and make it work for a while. Maybe just long enouth to get it home. The brushes in the fuel pump motor go bad and that's what happens to the fuel pump.
