1999 Intrepid technical problem

In my 99 Intrepid, every time I step on the brakes, the trunk release engages and opens it up. As well, when I hit the trunk unlock button inside the car, the brake lights come on. I had it looked at and they didnt find anything. I was told he had seen it before, but couldn't remember what the problem had been. He said it was something stupid. Both fuse boxes were check as well as all of the wiring in the trunk. Can anybody help me with this?

Re: 1999 Intrepid technical problem

This is something that JUST started happening? It sounds like the two are miswired but if that was the case this should have been happening since 1999, not just now, unless you just got the car?

The brake stop light switch on the brake pedal might be tied into the trunk's release relay as the trunk is not supposed to open via the trunk button or remote release while the car is in motion, on my M anyway, but the the trunk release itself shouldn't be feeding into the stop/brake lights. I can only think the relays have some kind of feed back going on or some issue with the bcm/connection bus may be screwy.

Them controlling eachother leads to them being miswired to my mind anyway.
