propane performance, help wanted
i was hoping someone could give me some pointers on getting performance from a propane pickup. it is a 1974 chevy scottsdale with a 350 on propane. i am starting a restoration project on it which includes freshening up the engine. as of now it runs awsome but is lacking needed power. any advice is appreciated.

Propane has much lower energy content than gasoline does - something on the order of 60-70% of the power of gasoline. On a given fuel mixture, propane will not give your engine the power it would have on gasoline.
If everything is adjusted properly, propane can give the engine the performance it would have with gasoline, but your fuel economy will be 60-70% of what it would be with gasoline. I.E., if a given engine on gasoline gave a car 20 MPG, that same engine would average 12-14 MPG on propane.
