1997 riviera problems

I need help please, my car runs rough in reverse and sometimes in forward at take
off , it even died in reverse the other day. I have replaced spark plugs and
wires ,fuel filter, injectors cleaned with bg cleaner along with upper
plenium intake and throttle body. Also the transmission has been servised.
After each item replaced or repaired it ran fine for about a week or two then
it went back to hesatating and stumbling. p.s. it is a supercharged 3800 series ll
THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP

Re: 1997 riviera problems

Ok... you might have a dying fuel pump. There is a silver valve which the gas line leads to. DONT START THE CAR. Just flip the key into ignition couple of times to build the pressure in the fuel lines. Then, use a screw driver to press on the valve carefully. It should spit out fuel at high pressure in a line. If there is no highly pressured stream when you do that... you have a fuel pump problem. That happened to me before.

could the trany cause it die when reversing and while applying the break?
and also causes the rpm to surge in gear. what vac line could it be?
I sprayed carb cleaner on all vac hoses and fitting while car was runing in park but no rpm changes. Does the vacume change while in reverse or drive?

Re: 1997 riviera problems

our tranny has vac lines that run to it to help it operate and if there is a leak... do you hear any hissing when under the hood? also , you said you had the tranny serviced, how long ago was it and what did they do? (pan drop and filter or full tranny flush?)

Re: 1997 riviera problems

I do not here any hissing, I also sprayed carb cleaner all over every vac line to see if the engine changed rpms. nothing. I had the filter changed about two mounths ago but this did not change any thing. When you put it in drive
or reverse the engine spits and shutters about three times and then cleans up.
It died after i put it in reverse. any more ideas would be great i think were getting close thank you very much

kinda a shot in the dark but...it could be a tranny mount that has broken. have someone look at the tranny/engine while you shift it and see if it twists and shakes alot. if not then im outa idea and you should ask your local mechanic

iVE BEEN DRIVING WITH a shot tranny mount for a month now with no problems. So my tranny just sits there, banging around on every turn....no problems yet. FYI
