Opinions on this CF hood please...

I REALLY like this hood, and wanted to know if you guys think this would look good on a 2gb.

If I choose this hood, it will be special ordered in Arctic Silver CF to match my Silver car better...

Opinions and feedback needed, please..

Thank you.

Re: Opinions on this CF hood please...

Yes, water can go through those holes...they are just simple wire mesh painted over. Though, from what i've read, unless it rains heavily, and consitantly on your car over periods of time, it really can't damage anything around those vents; though some people have said that over the years, small surface rust has built on a part or two closest to the vents. However, I do plan on making some "quick attach/release" block off plates out of some simple fitted and painted aluminum pieces...just in case lol.

So, yah...i'm going to buy this hood

sound like a good idea, here my idea, make the one that can slide out and block the hole under the hood, when ever it rain, just pop the good and slide out the cover, when done rain, slide it back in again, but Im kinda worried what happent if it rain in the middle of the night ( even though you think it not going to rains ).

Re: Opinions on this CF hood please...

The only thing that appears would really start to rust from the moisture would be the exhaust manifold or cover, possibly part of the turbo but its usually rusty anyways so who cars. IMO if it ruined too much inside, companies (VIS, etc) wouldn't sell hoods like that that have the mesh.

Re: Opinions on this CF hood please...

I've had my functional hood on my truck with the intake less then 2 inches from the scoop since april. I've driven through down pours and i've never had a problem.

Re: Opinions on this CF hood please...

Looks beautiful. I wouldn't mind a black one for my car. Although I like the ideas of the different colors... I wonder what ruby red would like like on my car.

Re: Opinions on this CF hood please...

looks ugly, but that's my opinion. It also looks like at the right angle water could land right on the air filter, not something I would mess with.

Re: Opinions on this CF hood please...

Yah, but i'll take my chances...i'm going to be fabbing up a small "drip" shield over the intake, nothing to intrusive or bulky, just big enough to cover where any water may splash or drip on/into my air intake . I'm pretty sure I have all bases covered on this one...thanks for the concern though.

Oh, and i'm sure Ruby Red would'nt match your BRIGHT red car EXACTLY, but imo...it would still look much cleaner than black (although red/black is pretty clean too)...unless your just a die hard for that "classic" CF look. I'm going for unique with my car (turbo 420a, colored CF evo style hood, etc), and imho i think this hood will score me some "unique" points for sure...especially in my town.

Re: Opinions on this CF hood please...

I like the hood, but Im one of those guys that would actually paint it to match the car. That way, its not to blingy, and when you pop your hood people are like, "cool, I didnt know that was CF."

Re: Opinions on this CF hood please...

Blingy is not the word im looking for, I suppose. I just think it would be cool to have it painted. Moto GP (supersportbikes) paint their carbon fiber bodies, same with F1. I think its cool because no one but the pros do it.

Then again, my tastes are waaay different.

Re: Opinions on this CF hood please...

They don't just make those cars out of carbon fiber just to be cool and then paint them to look good, they use the carbon fiber because it's lighter than steel and stronger than tin and/or fiberglass. Painting carbon fiber is just as easy as painting fiberglass or any other surface.
