In progress - Richard Burns Peugeot 206 WRC 2003 Monte Carlo

As a tribute to Richard Burns and Robert Reid I'm building their 2003 Peugeot 206 WRC.

So here we go:

Richard Burns, the 2001 World Rally Champion, a great driver who I enjoyed watching. His one-hand driving style reminds me of him frequently because I'm a one-hand driver as well.
For more information read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Burns

The Monte Carlo rally took place from 23rd january to 26th january 2003. (This was his last Monte Carlo event.)
Richard Burns and Robert Reid became 5th. (after Loeb, McRae, Sainz and Märtin, great names, I miss them)

The basis for this project is the Tamiya Peugeot 206 2003 version:

We know this version by Tamiya is inaccurate so a transkit is necessary. I ordered the Renaissance transkit for this rally:
[will take pictures of it soon]

Which will finally result in this:

It's the version with tobacco advertisement (which they are not allowed to drive with in the stages in France, but are allowed in Monte Carlo where they start, correct me if I'm wrong).

On the stages it looked like this:

Will post progress pictures soon.

i'll definitely watch out for this.

so burns was the one who had the one-hand driving style? forgot actually, was thinking who (ryosuke takahashi in initial D, stage 4, purple shadow battle) they were referring to when they compared god hand to a WRC driver who had the one-hand style.

Although I'm building the chassis, I couldn't contain myself so I started on the carrosserie.

Started working on the bonnet:

Removed the bonnet with a new sharp knife:

Here you can see the new(left) bonnet compared with the original(right):

Testfitting:

Needs some work, fitting and refitting before it's ready.

Time for an update.

Back to the interior.

Time to get the masking tape out:

Masked and painted:

Masking tape removed:

I'm pretty pleased with the result, though it's not as clean as I hoped it would be:
