Alarm going off, can't shut it off...

My car is going loco! My keychain keyless entry does not work first off so I'm not even sure how the alarm got activated, but I can't turn it off. If I open a door it goes off. If I start it up it goes off. It will go off for about 2 minutes and then stops. I unplugged both horns cause it was driving me nuts, but the lights still flash, and I can't stop them. I've tried manually unlocking both doors with the key while it is going off and it does not matter. How can I get this thing to shut off!?

Welcome to AF, in the future post the year of your car please. Is this an aftermarket alarm or factory?

Sorry. It's a 1996, and this is a factory alarm.

Check the battery in the remote.

That was my first thing I checked. Replaced it with a new one and still no dice...the remote may be bad though, although all the contacts on the battery clip in the remote look solid.

Mine is older but my 90 sse was doing that and I pulled fuse , under drivers side hush panel just above gas pedal in wire cluster.
