Bullshit Re!!!

I was suppose to have my RE SE's over two weeks ago, and now they say that one of the guys they sponsor just ordered 40, yes FORTY 10" SE's. That's BULLSHIT. I don't believe that excuse but w/e, I now have to wait another month for mine, and supposedly I'm at the top of their list now. Oh well, they're worth the wait I hope, and yeah this should be in stress release.

but...

I thought I'd clue you all in on what else I got.

This is all in my truck so it's not much but it's damn good. I've got two pair's of 4 by 6 infinity reference plate speakers. I was told these were better than the Kappa's but I'm not sure how. Then I have a Panasonic CQ-9801U Cd player, absolutely love it and the speakers. They play so loud and clear it's unbelievable, can't hear anything with just the speakers. Then I'll have those two 10" SE's pushed by a Kicker SX1250.1, I have the SXRC thing too, mounted right above my cd player. We ran all new wires, and toggle switches for my radio and amp. It's pretty sweet and I'll take pictures when done. I love the blue lights from the cd player and what not. The subs are going to be under the seat, each sub with just a little over a cubic foot, and they'll be sealed off. Going all SQ here.

Meh. It's northwest Iowa, nothing that great around here to begin with. You'd be suprised the way my old 400 watt rockford's hit in that truck though in sealed boxes that were less than half a cubic foot.

Also, is anyone familiar with DD subwoofers?

Well that's what a car audio shop uses for SPL nearby. The one I'm friends with is 3rd in the nation or something in his class and their "team" has a ton of trophies. He said he could get a pair for me and that they are better SQ than the SE's. I thought RE was pretty hip into good sound quality and power handling, even in the lower lines below the XXX and what not. What's your take though, wait for the SE's or go with DD's of a similar power rating?

Ok, so I could make a poll, but I'll just straight up ask you.

RE SE's? or eqivalent powered DD's?

Too many variables left out of the picture. What music? What car? What box? Which models? What size? How many? How much power? Is the car deadened? Do you have the midbass to complement the subwoofer you would be using appropriately? In other words there shouldn't be a straight up answer to that question. IMO in the sub world it all comes down to taste. Personally my sub is just there for filler... It adds what the midbass won't do 50 below and only that. It never goes above 2 on the sub level and is barely there, but the bass still kicks and the music sounds great. When picking a sub you want to use for your setup, you can never try too many different speakers/models.

Mostly rock, some rap and country, techno, all different kinds.

It's in a regular cab truck, subs will go underneath of a bench seat that's been raised.

Each sub will have around 1-1.2 cubic feet, sealed of course.

Either the DD 3500 series or the RE SE, preferably the RE IMO.

2 ten inch subs.

1250.1 puts out 1380 at 14.4 volts, and for the most part it's around 14 usually, but let's just say 1200 volts.

Is not deadened with aftermarket material, although most people have thought it to be pretty good for the most part.

I cut most of the midrange out, but those Infinity's can handle htat somewhat appropriately, but for the most part are very well at cranking out the highs.

I will agree that the sub is just there as a filler, it won't be listened to at anything over 130-135 db's for normal driving, but it's always kind of nice to be able to crank it to mid 140's or more. I like to know I have that potential.

I already have the amp, installed and running, waiting for the subs. The RE's are already paid for for the most part, but I can get my money back for a pair of DD's if convinced. RE basically said they need to get a new shipment of motor/magnet assemblies(not sure) and that they need to assemble the sub and ship them out. I really like the thoughts of having one but I'll go with what's better for me.

Re: Bullshit Re!!!

SE's are more efficent and take more kindly to being sealed. DD's dont have alot of linear dispalcement capeablitity so that alone shows they arent ment for sealed enclosures. That is also more in the SE's power range and the SE's are likely to have better SQ though SQ is opinionated.

Re: Bullshit Re!!!

you can't really hear distortion below like 5% in the sub freq range anyway. The real "punch" for bass is in the midbass freqs anyway, and that's the part I really like.

Re: Bullshit Re!!!

Just the replies I wanted to hear CB...

I just want the subs to be more responsive, and play much lower than what those old rockford's did, and the SE will do that with a dumbell attached to it(ok not literally). I was looking at the 3500's compared with the SE's last night, and I love those SE's. It's something that nobody has around here too, which is one thing that attracts me to them. Watching video's of them on realmofexcursion.com only adds to that attraction, those fuckers wang for their "specs". Looks like I'll be waiting for a full month now, oh well...I wasn't planning on building the box for another three weeks anyways. We're fiberglassing the bottom of it to get the contours of the floor, and maximum space obviously, and then I plan on having an inside depth of 7" and it will stretch across the entire seat. Once it's all said and done I'll post up pictures of everything, and give a shallow review of it. I'm very pleased with the speakers the way it is...I can't imagine having those subs.

As you can tell it doesn't take much to impress me...

Re: Bullshit Re!!!

You should be happy with the SE's. I still have one from the group buy, 137 shipped to my door I think, I don't listen to it much since it's used only as a replacement for when I pull the 18 out or while my 16 8's project is goin on, but I love it. They are one of my fav. subs.

You better not be talking about 137 U.S. dollars.

Or else I got fucked.
