AC question

Hi can any 1 tell me if you over charge your ac system with freon, could it blow a fusable link somewere on the car , Reason i ask i think mine was over charged and now my gages on my dash for fuel and coolant do not work also the fans do no operate and neither does the ac. all fuses are good

can any 1 help

Not likely. You must have another problem. Now I may never buy another Malibu but I will buy a Yukon.

I do. But its something I can't stop - helping people. If I experience something, I try to help. Of course, I probably have owned more Malibus (and Chevys for that matter) than you have. But - who knows?

someone that is coming here to get help, telling them that you would never buy another malibu is not very comforting to the owner of the malibu. Yes you probably have owned a lot more cars than me, I tend to have them for close to 20 years B4 I sell them or trade in. Anyway I was told ( and posted here) an email I received back from a mechanic that basically states that the lower intake manifold gasket deal is due to poor maintenance of the car, by letting the coolant get caustic. 1. I am just repeating my take on what I was told 2. I had a lower intake gasket go bad on me, 3. I think the mechanixc is right in the email. When my mother bought the car she was told that the coolant would last 150K miles, so I just topped it off. I never checked the PH ? more than likely that is what happened

Actually I think there is a suit against GM and Dexcool. I don't think that because you are told the coolant will last 100K (not 150K) that it will. But there is something wrong with a new car (I bought my Malibu with 6 miles on it) when you need a head gasket at 50K miles. Then it overheats on the way home from the dealership and the next day you need a valve job. Then several years later you need another valve job. Also, the brakes fail at 17K, 23K and 37K milles because 1) rotors bad; 2) calipers bad. So, I emphathize with you for wanting your car tyo be without problems, but people come here for answers - not cheerleading. The best cheerleading comes from word of mouth. Right now, Chevy does not care about customer support - it cares about profit. The only way we will ever get back to the good old days (350, 327, solid good engines) is if we complain when we experienc troubles - or but Toyota. Beleive me - I'll be the first in line to buy Chevy - just don't jack me around when I spend $18K. At least give me what Camry buyers are getting!

I kinda have an A/C related question, which is when I turn the a/c on to setting two, there is very little air that's coming out of the vent. It didn't seem this way before... is this something that I should worry about?

I think you might need a freon check if you never had one, but I don't think there is cause for real alarm., I think most cars do that over time. The fan gets weaker etc.

You may want to check the fan output again. If you think setting one is supposed to be really low, and two seems to work no better than setting one, you may have a blown resistor. This is a common problem with this, and other mid-size GM cars. Go here for more information:
