Re: rx-8 tranny?

It would definitely suck.. but it would still be cool to have a 6th gear!

Re: rx-8 tranny?

the reason why it sucks is because its weak shit
its the same transmission in the s15 silvia and miata

so behind a turbo motor it would fall apart

maybe im wrong but s15 slivia's are turboed, the 6-speed comes with the black top sr20det witch is turbo.

That is correct, but the size of the transmissions (5 speed and 6 speed) are the same size. This means that the gears are smaller and weaker in the 6 speed, since they were made small enough to fit where the 5 speed transmission usually is, making the 6 speed transmission weaker compared to the 5 speed trannys. That's why it's not favoured. Many S15 owners love the 6 speed, but hate the tranny because of how weak it is. When pushed hard, these transmissions do end up falling apart.

I think that's all right, lmao.
