2000 Montana Blower Motor

My AC/Heater blower has never worked on the 1 or 2 settings. As of last week it's now only working on the number 4 setting. I replaced the switch, no luck, still only number 4. What's next? Could the blower motor resistor be the problem? Thanks for any advice.

That's definitely the problem.

Get the new resistor at the dealership. It's located on the passenger side on the firewall behind the glove compartment. I removed the glove compartment for easier access. This is a pretty simple fix.

Unplug the old one.

Remove the old one (a couple screws, I think).

Install the new one.

Plug it in.

I don't think it's necessary to remove the glove compartment, but you don't have to be a contortionist to get to the part if you do.

I'm sure the Pontiac dealer will know the part. It's a very common repair.

Generally, these get progressively worse. First, fan position one stops, then 2, then 3, etc.

It's probably most annoying in slightly hot weather, when you can't turn down the AC and you can hang beef in the van.

Thanks for the help. I replaced the resistor module and all is well. I actually ended up removing the fan to make the job easier. Thanks again.
