Question V6 7.5" rear end with new gears?

Hi guys. This question is mainly for V6 owners, but anybody that knows please feel free to answer. I have a 2000 Mustang V6, mildly modified. I was wondering if any of you out there have put new gears (such as 3.73s or 4.10s) in the stock V6 7.5" rear end. I'm seriously contemplating it. I'm getting new gears regardless, but I've been going back and forth between keeping the 7.5" or switching to an 8.8".

If you have changed the gears in your 7.5", how is it working for you? Do you have any problems with it? It would be a lot easier for me to keep the 7.5", but if it doesn't work then it would defeat the purpose.

If you've done this please let me know. And if you used a T-lock, which brand did you go with?

In the near future I'm planning on a 75-100 HP (somewhere around there) shot of NOS. (Just something to keep in mind.)

Thanks guys!

with a T-lok you should be ok with the 7.5 rear until you start getting about 300hp. so if you never plan on going any higher than say 275, dont worry about getting an 8.8

Re: V6 7.5" rear end with new gears?

Switching to a 8.8 is a waste of money, if you need/want a strong rear end build up a 7.5. Unless you just want a bolt on/geared car I wouldent buy a regular T-loc, if you plan on doing any major engine work or a power adder(which you stated you were doing) I would get a Detroit unit. Someone on 3.8mustang.com contacted Detroit and make a deal if they could find 15 people(I think) to buy Detroit true trac they would sell them for around $375, I'll find the thread if you're intrested. But if you put one girdle on top of that you would have a beefy rear end.
