Turbo Boost 03 Beetle

Hello, I am not familiar with the Turbo 1.8Golf 1.8t Jetta and Beetle but one of my friends just bought a 2003 Beetle TurboS. Its 180hp and we just got a boost controller. Its running 7 pounds at the moment which is stock boost. I was told by some guy that it can handle a maximum of 9psi before blowing up. How much Boost can the Beetle's engine handle on a stock turbo ?

Thank you
