How Do I Drain the Fuel Tank?

Sounds simple enough, right? Well, when I try to get the siphon hose down the filler neck, it is getting stopped by something before it reaches the gas. I've been told it's the anti-rollover valve.

What's the easiest way to drain the tank?

Thanks.

Probably with a syphon that is self starting. Syphon gas into an approved container. Do not use an electric drill driven pump or simular.

ooops just read the rest of your post.

Re: How Do I Drain the Fuel Tank?

Part of the filler neck includes a plastic tube with baffles and a small flap at the end. This tube is connected to the filler neck hub and hangs into the filler neck of the fuel tank.

This serves three functions:
  • An anti-surge device;
  • A flame arrestor device;
  • An anti-siphon device.
Unfortunately in this case, it works very well. You can remove the large rubber hose from the tank where the filler tube connects, insert a small hose, and pump/siphon the fuel from the tank.
