1979 Honda Civic CVCC wagon
Fellow honda techs out there... I've got a '79 honda civic cvcc wagon that i've had for 21 years. I bought the car in '85 for work and after 5 years of being my work horse, my job got me a van, so I retired the little guy. Since I didn't have to drive it for work I began restoring it slowly. 16 years ago I had all the dents taken out and repainted pearl white (a continental markvii colors). It sat in storage for about 14 years then a couple of years ago I had the tranny rebuilt, new struts, shocks, rotors, calipers, drums, brakes, brake cylinder, starter, radiator, etc.. replaced and stored it again. I want to get the thing running on the road cause it's too pretty to keep in the garage. The car as it stands runs great, but I've having some problems with the carb since the cars been sitting so long. It'll start right up, but won't stay running trying to take off in 1st gear. Symptom appears to be the float is stuck or jets plugged from the old gas. Other an rebuilding the carb, anyone have any other suggestions... Two years ago I got a weber for it, but if I put it on it won't pass smog since it's not at the 30 year mark yet. Anyways, I'm getting new carpets ordered and also want to swap out the front buckets with some other seats. As for the motor I'd like to swap it out with something a little more powerful with a 5-speed. The motor doesn't have to be anything fast compared to today's standards, just something stock with a little more power . So, anyone out there knows what I can swap into this baby I'd appreciate it. I know this is not something too familiar to most and it's sort of a relic, but I love the car and I do get lots of looks and comments on it. Any help or advice would be most appreciated!
