Exclamation Trac Off Light

Hey all,
I have a 2001 Cavalier 2.2L. I was driving around last week and while i was driving i noticed that my Trac Off light had turned on. It was raining so i thought it was just the rain(Monday). Then next morning when i went to class the light was still on(Tuesday). The light did not turn off till Wednsday and not until the afternoon. And right before i was going to scan the car because i know the Trac Off light sometimes comes on before the Check Engine Light. It figures.

Well on Sunday while i was driving the Trac Off light came back on. It still has not turned off. Today is Monday

Does anyone know what my problem is and how i can fix it.

Thanks in Advanced

Paul

Re: Trac Off Light

Are there any other lights coming on besides the trac off? I'm assuming no because you would've said it, but just to make sure.

Re: Trac Off Light

Go get the CEL read, then go from there. Some of the stupidest things in the world throw lights off on these cars. Like i grounded my tach adaptor and 2 gauges inside my car on the same ground and my ETS off light and CEL came on and car ran like shit. I never woulda known that would cause that. Grounded them seperatly and went back to normal.

Re: Trac Off Light

Could that both lights be a cause of a bad oxygen sensor???
Because this started happening after I filled a tank with gasolin at a uknown gas station! Right after that car started making weird sound from the muffler and ran like shit. i heard that bad fuel can kill oxygen sensor and the following behavior of the car can be coming out from the oxygen sens.
Any thoughts about that???

Re: Trac Off Light

when I start the engine in the morning(when it's totaly cold) After the few seconds, maybe a minute the radiator fan goes on, and works pretty much all the time. What could it be? some kind of sensor?

Re: Trac Off Light

The Trac OFF light thing has happened to me 3 or 4 times in the last year and it always goes off within a day or two. I haven't noticed any performance problems associated with it and the CEL has never come on. Typically a flashing CEL indicates a misfire problem and a solid CEL can mean any number of things. Here in the US many auto parts stores will read your codes for free regardless of the make of the vehicle. Good luck.

Re: Trac Off Light

Oh yeah,

On my old Cavalier, I noticed that if the CEL is on it kicks on the radiator fan automatically.
