rough idle

Can anyone tell me where to find the IAC on a 93' 1.8l gt. I think it's under the throttle body but i'm not sure if it's it. I think it needs to be cleaned because it has a rought idle and just did a tune-up.

Re: rough idle

Your 1.8 has an idle speed control instead of an idle air control. It's underneath the throttle body. Remove the electrical connector to the valve and measure the resistance across the terminals It should read 6-14 ohms.

Re: rough idle

I don't know about the 1.8's idle control, but what can be done on the 1.9/2.0 is to take off the IAC and flip it over, fill it completely with carb cleaner and let it sit overnight, then clean it out with WD-40. It's always worked great for me.

Then again, I don't know anything about the 1.8's. This is just in case it can help.
