What is Best Brand AX4S Trans Overhaul Kit to buy ?
I am looking for the best overhaul kit to buy to rebuild my 1999 Windstar. Other than buying each piece individually from Ford Parts, does anyone have a suggestion of whom or where to buy the best or most reliable transmission overhaul kits, that would make one for the 1999 Windstar AX4S Trans ?
It would be nice to know if the overhaul kit had all the updated parts and or materials in their kit. Right now I could buy from NAPA who gets kits from allamatic ? $269.00 with new clutch plates.. Online at Transmission website $179.00 etc... I would like to at least know other than Ford is there a reputable overhaul kit to buy. and from Where i.e. Napa, Oreilly, Autozone, Carquest ??? Any suggetions would be helpful Thanks MW

I just found out that Ford does have a Transmission Master Rebuild Kit. I found it on motorcraft.com. I got the part number and had to call 2 dealers. The 1st dealer just brushed it off and told me that they wouldn't have it. The 2nd one actually looked it up for me and said that it would have to be ordered. It was $255, I didn't ask what was in the kit, but I'm sure that it should be the same as others. I got 2 different part numbers, don't know which kit is the correct one. MTKV-K6700M or MTKV-LS6700G.
