Radiator Cap
I figured it would be a good time to replace my cap, it looks like mine may be the original cap which is not good. I have 2 questions though. If my cap isn't giving me problems, should I replace it? Could any "bad" come from replacing it? Also, I went out and bought the Stant cap, however, the "1130?" I believe it is, the replacement number for our Blazers, is rated at 16lb while my stock cap says 15lb, could this cause a potential problem? This cap doesn't have the fancy lever or anything like that, should I get that one? Thanks in advance.

Re: Radiator Cap
98up # is 11230 and Chevy redesigned their cap cause the original had a smaller center that opened to relieve pressure and then when cool suck coolant back in - they used to clog from the dex cool and stant always used a diff design that Chevy later copied. Forget the lever cause you never have to open it when hot anyway - coolant goes into the reservior. If your mileage is up there then the thermostat should also be changed to avoid possible overheating - another cheap insurance part.

Re: Radiator Cap
Actually I was incorrect, I do have the 11230, but it is a 16lb vs. the 15lb stock cap. Is this a problem?

Re: Radiator Cap
What you have is fine, the original Chevy cap let in air which cause issues. I have the Stant replacement and do not have an issue at all.
