Angry more questions...

I posted on here a couple of days ago about my MAF being torn and what problems it could cause.. Well i got a new one and fixed it and i still had a misfire, so i ran the computer and it just says a misfire doesn't really tell me where or which one. So i replaces all my plugs and wires to see if that would help. It made it better but i am still having the same problem. My service engine soon light flashes a still have the backfire and etc. Allthough when i was changing my plugs i did get antifreeze on my distributor. I let it air out for about 24 hours and tried again and same problem... So my distributor is a BITCH to change so is there any other thing that could be causing this. I dont want to go through all the trouble of changing the damn thing if its not it...(just in case it helps i have a 5.7 lt1)

dont even feel that way.. we all learn here.. Just ask whatever you wanna know.. we will help you as much as we can..

opti spark is just another name of distrubitor.. located right above the crank shaft pulley and right below the water pump.

Re: more questions...

all right i tested my distributor with my autometer and everything was to spec. now i wonder if the code that i originally got before i changed the faulty plugs is still in the system no matter if i reset the computer by unplugging it or not because some of the codes needs to be cleared by a diagnostic computer.... does anyone think that this could be my problem.. i also wonder if it is because my timing needs adjustment. neways i have many of ideas and one puzzling problem HELP!!!!

Re: more questions...

I am not up on Optisparks.
John (FormulaLT1) may see this and help you out.

I know they can cause this problem. And it may show everything working also. I have heard of them doing VERY weird things.

Re: more questions...

I took of my MAF sensor and cleaned it thinking that would be the problem. I'm desperate to try anything besided changing the distributor ( i know now optispark lol) i think i'm just about to take it up and have it completly tested. If anyone knows of any place that does that for free would be great. I'm trying my best to save as much money on all this as possible.

Yeah, but if there were a way to cram it back there, life would have been even worse with a traditional diistributer on a 4th gen. About the only way that would of half way worked would be to install a access panel behind the radio in the firewall

It's not THAT bad. Look at it this way, ut's a nice way to get a tan and an excuse to pound a few brews (if eligable).

Re: more questions...

Have you guys seen the coil per cylinder set-up for the LT1 yet??
I haven't personally, but I have heard good things about it.

Re: more questions...

If it's anything like the one Ford conjured up then yeah, it would be nice. I thought I saw a setup like that on a Northstar for the D.O.D. system ?
