Progress 1953 Corvette

Just an out of the box build for my old man, there's no detail painting yet and it's going to get another coat of black then some clear and BMF.
If you're a purist you'd notice its not correct 53 model colours but... I dont care.. Has anyone had trouble trying to fit the headlights on this kit (Revell Monogram 53 Corvette roadster)?

Re: Progress 1953 Corvette

Yup, I had the exact same problem with the headlights. The contours are completely wrong for the shape of the headlights socket. Basically I just attacked the back of the headlight itself with a sanding stick until it DID fit.

Re: Progress 1953 Corvette

Fathers day is coming up soon so I blew the dust off this to get the majority of it done, right now I reckon it sits at 98% finished. All it needs is a good polishing and a few bits and pieces glued on, touch-ups to the console between the seatbacks. This kit has badly shaped chrome parts, all of them are bastards to fit properly and as for the bumperettes there is no marking on your shiny painted body of where to put them so you pretty much have to guess and hope it works out. The only chrome part that was easy to fit was the shifter..

Great finish. I love the looks of this car, and I also am glad to see the straight six in there too. Nice foil work also.

Re: Progress 1953 Corvette

Thanks, its actually my first shot at BMF, I just have to get my huge hands used to working so delicately and find a new xacto blade. Provides such a better finish to masking and painting the trims silver.
I just took some more shots of this because I added all of the rear chrome trims and radiator last night. Here are some photos, just those touchups and the parts you see in the photo and its done. I'll get my good digi cam and find a nice spot for some completed photos.

I'd like to set this model as my baseline model finish from now on.
