Re: suggestions being taken

lesson #1...DUAL SUX BALLSO....seriously....i dont mean to sound mean, but u get what you pay for. sure the by-pass box is worth 160 maybe, but the subs no. grab that box and put in some alpine type-r's or something else. seriously, go to best buy and listen to those subs b4 u buy them. they sound like crap at higher sound lvls. best buys isnt the best place for subs, but u can at least hear the duals for yourself in that box, and ask them to run those subs at about 300w @ 4 or 8 ohms. sorry to ruin your question.

Re: suggestions being taken

I wouldnt buy the setup for the neons it has. If you get anything type-r's are awsome. But for a cheaper price, i mean a lot cheaper check out www.ascendantaudio.com you can get there 12" assasins for 75 a piece. these subs are comparable to jlw3's, and probably better than the type,r's. Then either get a 2-12" box off ebay if your not good with woodwork, or make your own if you think you can. Its not hard. Also check the car audio forum and ask in there, cbfryman builds enclosures for a good price.

Im assuming you were looking at legacy or some other cheap low line amps, these are WAY overrated when they list power. Look on ebay for profile or hifonics, there cheap and put out close to what there rated at. Chiquae07 is right you get what you pay for.

Im getting ready to put a 10" assasin in my girls car and im looking into 2-12" arsenal's for my blazer.

Don't ever look at cars as just imports or domestics. Just because a car is made in a certain country doesn't mean that it is anything like another car from that country. An example of this is Mitsubishi reliability, just because they are Japanese doesn't mean that they are as reliable as a Honda or Toyota.

Re: suggestions being taken

Thanks Guys, but I never said I was buying it from a shop or any place like that, it was off of my friend who is parting out his talon tsi, so he was going to sell the 2 12's and 600w amp to me for 200, I have 2 12'' alpine subs downstairs but they are 2 years old, and were given to me from my aunt's fiance.

The system my buddy was gonna sell me was the cd receiver, 2 12'' duals, with the box, and a 600w amp for 200, I was gonna take the amp, and receiver, to power my alpine subs. Then I was gunna sell the duals, and try getting a 1000-1500w amp.

I need to know the best setup to run with alpine subs, and/or the best setup to run with any system.

Thanks
mike

Re: suggestions being taken

Well, my friend actually has 1 12'' JBL sub, a dual headset, and a different 600w amp, sorry for the wrong info before, and I'm not quite sure what alpine's I have

They say Alpine on the subs, and they are old, like 2/3 years old.

I don't really think I need a big system, because I want an EF hatch, and then I'm swapping a b16a into it, but the problem is I need to find one first =/

Thanks guys
Mike

Re: suggestions being taken

Well one 12 would be more than enough. Even if the alpines are type-s series they should still thump, alot better than any duals, and it really depends on the JBL that he has. Brands and models help alot cause some compnaies even well known ones rate there products to get people to buy it.

My friend has a strictly drag ef hes going to be selling in a few months, rollcage, stripped interior, full 2.5 inch exhaust, with a cut out, and a turbo d-15 fully built bottem end, head and custom intake manifold. Running NA he hit a 12.1 the turbo should put him in the tens.

Re: suggestions being taken

ive got 2 jbl 12's in my crx with a 1200W amp and they pound..if you put one in a hatch itll probly sound great. every 92-95 hatch that i kno just runs one 12 cuz itll sound clean. that jbl he has might sound good but the only way to tell if your alpines are any good is just to hook one in and see if its better than the jbl

i worked at best buy sellin those duals to ppl for about a year lol i cant believe how many dumb kids bought the box set cuz they looked cool with the neon. i did put 2 dual 10's in a box for my buddy with a fosgate amp and im sorry to say that it did actually sound good. that taurus' trunk made it thump like crazy

Re: suggestions being taken

Yeah we hooked his jbl up and it sounded great...

The other day my dad hooked up my 2 12's into his stereo system, which already has alot of thump....and a built in amp..he bought it back in the day for big money, and its great...but on topic, he hooked them up into the stereo and they were thumping....i need to get a cover for the edges though, but all in all they are sex, his jbl sounds better imo, a little clearer, because its not as old, but the alpines are great too...

I'm more worried with finding an eg first...
