Unhappy Wont Start

about 3 weeks ago i came out of store downtown and hopped in my car and turned it on. the rpm raised and dropped a few times them the car quit. i turned it on again, and kept my foot on the gas a little, and after a few attempts it started. a week later (approx), the same thing happend at my girlfriends house, except it wouldnt start. Later that night,i got her to go out and try to start it. it started fine. a week after that it wouldnt start outside my school. and it remained dead. i got my dad to tow it home using his VW golf. it has been sittign outside my house for 3 days now. i try it every day, and it still won't start. finnaly i got my dad to give me a hand looking at it ( i know almost nothing about cars). we discovered that their is no fuel pressure. it starts if you squirt the gas directly in with a syringe. so assuming the problem is with the fuel pump, am i likely to need a new fuel pump (PS where is the fuel pump?), or is there an electrical reason the fuel pump isnt wokring? (computer telling it not to pump gas?)

Re: Wont Start

Pump is in the tank. Make sure that it is the pump first ... even though it will start with gas injected with syringe. Try turning on key and listen for the pump to run in the tank for about 2 seconds. If you cant that will be a good sign that the pump is out
