Walker Exhaust
I was looking up on their site, and They have a whole exhuast setup for My Caprice.
I was wondering, are they stock replacements, or more of a mild performance kinda brand? |

Re: Walker Exhaust
Their performance stuff is usually branded Dynomax. I would asume the walker branded stuff is stock replacement.

Re: Walker Exhaust
there are some walker part numbers that will get you 2 1/2" mandrel bent exhaust. Part #'s are WLK-45687, Wlk-54017, Wlk-54016 and WLK-45688. You should be able to order them from just about any auto part place, or online from rockauto.com. If you search for these parts, you won't find them, you have to order them with part #'s. You'll get intermediate pipes, and tailpipes, all you have to add is mufflers. cost should be under $150 (not including mufflers).
These pipes bolt up to the cats with no modification on 94-96 caprices and impalas, should fit any b-body, but you may have to modify your crossmember and the pipes leading to them, since earlier cars only have 1 cat. |

Re: Walker Exhaust
that is for true duals that hook up to the stock flanges on the stock cats on a 94-96 caprice or impala. If I had more specifics on your car, I could help more-what year, what engine, etc.

Re: Walker Exhaust
The Walker stuff is low-end OEM grade - the bends are fairly restrictive (corrugated on the inside and flattened on the outside of the curve). They work as OEM replacements, but are not for any type of serious performance use. The factory pipes off an LT1 Caprice are mandrel bent and not as restrictive, although they are 2" or 2.25" diameter. I'd get that - I got a complete cat-back true dual off a '95 9C1 from Ecology for $60, complete so you can look around. Keep in mind that the upturns from the cats to the manifolds won't fit on a standard SB manifold and LT1 manifolds don't fit a standard small-block, so you might have to do some fabricating here. You will need to obtain a trans crossmember from the same car you get the exhaust from, so the left pipe will clear the crossmember.

Also, those part #'s I gave above are for 2 1/2" MANDREL BENT tubing. It's not a part number for a stock part for a caprice. It may be for the impala ss, although I think it had 2 1/4 in. exhaust stock. I just remembered another idea for exhaust. Pypes makes an x-pipe that is 2 1/2in mandrel bent for an impala ss. It runs from the cats back to the mufflers. It would fit any caprice with the same modifications as above. If I were to buy dual exhaust for my car, I would get some long tube headers, two cats (have emissions here) the pypes x pipe, some dynomax super turbos (flow better than flowmasters, and cheaper), and the 2 1/2" mandrel bent tail pipes from the part #'s I listed above. There is one more thing you have to add to that system- The tails end where the resonators begin on a stock impala. You either need 1) long tips that go all the way to the back, 2) neck down in size for resonators (yuck), or 3) get some extra pipe to extend it. |
