2004 RenaultF1

Hi all,

I have just completed this 2004 Renault F1 kit. It is my first attempt at an F1 car

Here is a quick shot...

What do you think?

Re: 2004 RenaultF1

The kit was a Heller 1/18 2004 Renault F1. The kit was not highest quality, but it wasn't the worst either.

I didn't really encounter any problems, but the instruction manual was of a poor standard, and in some places hard to understand. The transfers were not that great eather, as not all of them fit.

This kit, thankfully, came with the paints, so that wasn't really a problem.

I will post some more pictures tomorrow...

Re: 2004 RenaultF1

turned out pretty nice, I have never built a F1 car before. what kind of paints came with this? from the picture, it looks like it is airbrushed. and welcome to AF also.

Re: 2004 RenaultF1

Thanks for the comments.

The paints that came with it were normal modeling paints. I would have normally airbrushed it, but as it was my first F1 car I just brush painted it.

I was surprized at how good it looked when I had finished it.

Looks cool! Hand paint looks fine but seems like it wasn't primed
few questions... how much did it cost? any engine detail? front wheels steer?

BTW camera seems a bit off scale

The kit cost around Ģ20 in the UK, but I have seen them pop up on eBay for a lot less.

Sadly there is no engine detail, and the front wheels don't turn. I was glad about this really, because I wanted something nice and easy to start off with.

This is the only 1/18 scale F1 model kit I have ever seen. Do you know of any others?

Re: 2004 RenaultF1

Nice start, but I think you should paint the engine air intake in black.
Heller could make this kit at 1/20th scale, 1/18 is a bit strange for our "modeling world".
