1995 Ford Explorer trans/rear end issues???
have a 1995 Ford Explorer we used it for our Non Profit organization and we are having serious issues. Let me explain in last few years we have replaced the engine and rebuilt trans. OKay the problem started 3 weeks after trans rebuild reverse would not work so well untill you git it going good almost like 1st gear was slipping so I drove it as this is only vehicle then when shifting in gear I heard noise and mechinic said it was rear end. Then around 50mph I will weird vibration in rear end but it find at 60-65 or anywhere else just 50mph. Okay so I got rear end and few days before I could get it in I was reversing out of parking lot and truck went out. Now the only way to move it is get RPM almost to red line and it was slighting move and if you happen to get it to 40 your are find but once you start all over again. Engine seems to be shanking alot and I have all kinds of vibration. Someone said it is engine balance but I am not sure. Reverse seems to work somewhat still but not much at all. I am worried that I messed engine up. Runs really rough and shakes in park mainly in drive it isnt so bad. Thought engine had miss but good spark to all cylinders. Wonder if trans can cause all this or rear end or is the engine shot. This motor was replaced 2 years ago. I know this is alot but if anyone can suggest anything let me know. I thought maybe taking the bolts out of tourque convertor see if shaking stops but they have studs and you can do this. IN all I dont think putting a engine in is worth it I have two much money in it now. Trans shop said trans is burn and junk and they will rebuild it for 300.00 if I install a trans cooler and rear end but I am not sure it is worth it.Any suggest very urgent matter

Re: 1995 Ford Explorer trans/rear end issues???
Forgot to mention when you are driving and when you stop is just shuts down if you dont thru it in neutreul before you stop. Yesterday I parked it on hill when I put it in drive it wont even move just clunks out but if it is on flat surface it will start and try to drive but again it wont even buge unless you get RPMS way up close to read line

What engine and trans do you have?
I would start with the trans rebuild and then see what is going on. Dean |

Re: 1995 Ford Explorer trans/rear end issues???
Trans shop saiod they wont rebuild it untill rear end is done and external trans cooler is installed. I just cant see putting more money into anything unless I am sure it will help. 4.0 engine with 3.73 rear end. This is 4X4 as well. I am just worried maybe the engine is bad?

Re: 1995 Ford Explorer trans/rear end issues???
There are many garages that would help a non profit organization. They can usually use the tax write off. Maybe I can put you in touch with a place that can help. Let me know if you're interested.
