Yo,
I Got A 97 Taurus 6 Cyl. The Other Day It Started To Crank Alittle Slow And Then Started. Two Days Later It Is Still Doing The Same Thing I Just Repaled The Battery Cuase It Was 5 Years Old And I Thought It Was Time To Replace It To Be Safe. It Is Still Doing The Same Thing When I Go To Start It Cold Or Hot It Just Cranks A Little Slow And Then Starts Kind Of Like A Low Battery Or Diry Cable But Its Not That. It's My Only Means Of Transportation And I Really Need To Fix This Fast Please Help If You Can. Thanks ! |

Re: 97 Taurus (turns Over) Slow At Times
THANKS
REPLACING THE BATTERY DIDN'T HELP AT ALL SO I FIG. IT'S THE STARTER I CHECKED ALL THE TERMINALS AT BOTH ENDS EVERYTHING WAS GOOD. I MIGHT TRY SOME OCTANG BOOST OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT AND SEE IF THAT MIGHT HELP IT. IT CRANKS AND STARTS BUT IT JUST CRANKS SLOW LIKE IT'S MISSING SOMETHING AND THEN BAM IT STARTS.

Re: 97 Taurus (turns Over) Slow At Times
Doesn't sound like a fuel problem since it does start. Turning over slowly maybe caused by worn bushings (bearings) that are binding in the starter motor.

Re: 97 Taurus (turns Over) Slow At Times
Before replacing anything else, I'd get new battery cables.
Do you have anyone that is able to help you? Get a volt meter and set it for DC and put it on the battery and have someone try to start the car and see what it does. If the voltage drops alot and it is a new battery it probably is the starter motor. If the voltage does not drop at all, there's a problem getting the juice to the starter. |
