97 T-Bird starter issues?

Evening folks, hopefully someone can give me a hand. I've been playing this game with my T-bird for about a year and a half now. I turn the key and all I get is a single click. After turning X amount of times it will finally fire up. It seems the longer it sits the more clicks I get before it finally does fire up. I've taken it in a couple times to have it checked out and of course it starts right away. Has anyone else had a problem like this and figured it out?? Please help!

Welcome to the group. I haven't had that problem but the first thing to do is clean and tighten all connections on the starter and battery. Have the battery load tested. Be sure to read the Tech Help thread to get good tips on common problems with the Tbird. Just don't post questions in there.

Sounds like your starter solenoid, not a big deal and a pretty cheap fix, Take it to an electrical shop (that does electric motors) and they should be able to fix it. I am an electrician and my dad is a ford tech and we have both seen this problem a lot.
