Lightbulb Great U.S. source for kits/supplies

Like some of you, I live in an area that seems to have very little interest in modeling. It's almost impossible to find a Tamiya model within 100 miles of my home....so I tried Ebay and had success getting quality models shipped from Hong Kong. I bought from "sangpolly" and the kits arrived free of damage in about 10 days, but shipping was $10 per model. They arent able to ship paint by airmail, so it was a kit only supplier. It was was the best deal I had until I picked up an issue of Scale Auto.

Pick one up and you'll find an ad inside for Southside Hobbys. The prices look rediculously cheap and that stopped me from ordering from them for a while. Once I did call and place and order I was shocked. If you order over $50, they ship free inside the U.S. They are located in Terre Haute, Indiana and the package arrived to me (in Texas) in four days! I've ordered from them twice and feel pretty confident they are realiable. They sent me a catalog of their plastic (they do r/c also) and it's 50 pages of 10pt font (alot of stuff).

I know alot of people use HLJ and to be honest I tried them once, after two weeks my order had not shipped, so I emailed and cancelled it. Not sure how well Southside Hobbys would be for non U.S. residents, but for those of you in the states, that need a supplier, they may be your new best friend!

Cool! They're at 1950 East Springhill Drive. They don't have a website yet but when I asked the guy said one was in the works!

Be sure and vist Colts training camp if you go during the next few weeks!

Yeah I've seen their ads in Scale Auto, but because of the low advertising space (I didn't see what I wanted) I was hesitant to order from them

Mind posting their phone #?

I'd thought of ordering from them before, too... Now I just have to save up for $50 worth of stuff.

Woohoo!

Yeah I'd also like their phone number. What's the general price for a tamiya kit they sell? Do they have old revell-monogram models?

General prices for Tamiya range from 10.95-25.95. If they have a model advertised cheaper in Scale Auto you get that price. I paid 15.95 each for the R34 and Sard Supra. I think the Modena Spyder was 25.95, paint is also cheap, 3.50 for cans and 1.79 for acrylics (23ml.).

They do run only limited kits in their ads, but have had every kit I called for. Same with the paint selection, I ordered 17 different colors last time, plus masking tape and polish!

As for older kits from Revell, I counted approx 123 different ones. I know they have some that aren't listed in the catalog, if you have something special in mind I'd just call and ask. Order line: 800-877-3618

Hope this helps!

Won't make it in time for training camp. We're in the early stages of our busy season at work. 6-7 days of 10 hour shifts are the norm. Maybe in a month or two. Thanks for the address.
