update on new purchase since end of Jan 06

So we purchased a 2005 TB EXT at the end of Jan. VERY HAPPY WITH IT SO FAR!!!

I was looking at lease return Tahoes and Yukons and they wanted $20-$25k for a 3 year old truck (2002-2003) which had 35,000+ miles on them..... I really wanted one...

we looked at the trailblazers and I really didnt want one...

so we went to a few dealers and were not getting anywhere with purchasing one... $28k was not in my price range....not that I cant afford it but not what I want to pay...

so we found a stealership 2 hrs away..... scheduled to go there... then we went to Atlantic City (next to the casino's) to a chevy dealer down there.. LARGEST CORVETTE DEALER IN THE US!!!! they had hundreads of Corvettes there, subaru sti's and some trailblazers.. they showed us a few..

we looked at a white 2006 TB EXT (EXT was not an option as the truck had to be a ext)... no running boards, no dvd, no onstar, no xm.... and was white...

got them down to $22,500 and said we would be back on Saturday to pick it up and do paperwork as we had 1 more place to go.... (this was on a wed night)

Thursday night we went 2 hrs away... cmon they had blue... worth the 2hr drive...

it was already out front and sitting there for us.... same as the white.. except.. a 2005 but was blue and had runningboards.... sticker was $33k and it was marked down to $32K (not showing the $xx,888 as I call that the change)
anyway I tell him... well for that kind of money I want to see the one with the dvd player.. he asked if we were financing the truck.. I looked at him and said.. does it look like I can afford one in cash?!?!?!?!?!? he said that one is alot more.. I printed their inventory out before we got there.. showed him the vin and he had to track the truck down.... he found it in the back corner with 2 cars in front of it and a dead towtruck... but in 20 minutes it was out..... we looked it over and he wanted to know if we wanted to take it for a test drive.. I said no cuz we got 2 hrs to go home.. that will be our test drive....

sticker was $35k marked down to $32k less $3k gm points = 29k minus trade = $26k... plus they had $4000 in incentives = $22k.... we got him down to $21,400.. we told him get it to $21,000 and we will take it.... he came back and said he cant... but while he was away my wife and I discussed and said it was a good deal..... so he said.. cmon it is only $400.. I snapped back.. YEAH THAT IS WHAT I SAID!!! however I told him give us a full tank of gas as we have to drive 2hrs home.. he said ok and deal was done...

so used lease return out of warranty (1k mile warr only) = more than what we got with a SPANKIN NEW TRUCK....

ok so this truck is my wifes and she drives it. I wasnt happy with the mileage... it was 10mpg... I found this site as I wasnt happy with that and readup here and there.. I came to the conclusion that we need to get like 3300 miles before it gets better..
well since we bought it at the end of Jan 06 till now we have 5045 miles on it... and yes ... 19mpg highway going to upstate NY.. from south nj (philly area) to beyond albany...... I am happy with it now.... not the fastest truck but it is roomy....

the only mods I have done (if you want to call it that) is I bought 2 more headphones that came with batteries and the remote off of ebay to my house for $60!!!!!!!
