Question Manx Special

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum and have had a quick look around. Theres some amazing modelling going on here. Great Stuff.

Anyway, i am in the process of building a Manx Special, using an old Protar Kit and a load of Cosmos Factory parts. I'm hoping to make a late model manx, early / mid 60s. I'll try and get some pics up soon hopefully.

I was wondering if anyone had any Protar spares hanging around their spares box, such as coil over shocks and a front fairing, that you want to sell / trade? (i know they made a Norton with fairing but it seems impossible to get hold of these days) i may be able to modify another 1/9 scale fairing, any ideas???

Thanks,

Ifan

Re: Manx Special

Hey Ifan,

Glad to see you made it over and brought your interst in 1/9th protars along. Definitely looking forward to seeing you share the process of using Cosomo's parts.

As for the parts, let me know what you need, if i have extras, I'll pass them along or make some copies. i think I might have an extra fairing for the Norton.

Look forward to seeing some pic's when you have a chance.

Dave

Re: Manx Special

Hi Dave,

Thanks for that Dave, i would be very interested in the fairing. As with other parts, i'm looking for rear shocks, such as the ones that came on the Protar Gilera and MV, with the springs exposed, so that i can modify them into the Girling type widely used on the later manx nortons.

The cosmos factory parts are fantastic, i've spent the last few weeks polishing the 3 gallon tank and drilling and cleaning up the brake levers and clip ons etc. It takes a lot of work to get the parts ready and modifying them to fit the kit etc but with patience the results should be worth it.

I need to order some more cosmos stuff from you, brake junction etc, so we may be able to work something out with some parts then.

Thanks Dave

All the best,

Ifan

Re: Manx Special

Hey Ifan,

I have to work this weekend, but I'll check over the next few days and see what I have. I have a few of the kits you mentioned, as well as a few parts bikes, so I should be able to come up with something on the shocks. I can't remember on the Manx Fairing, I know I have at least 1 of them.

Hiya Skippy,

You caught me. Maybe that was a slight misrepresentation of my actual status in the working world.

Later

P.S. Modem is finally fixed, I'll e-mail you later.
