okokok... NON-MARO Question
I (my wife) has a 04 Kia Sedona minivan with the 3.4 liter (I think... it's a piece of crap) engine.
It just turned 30,000, and the service guys keep calling and asking if we want the "super-duper up your pooper" 30,000 miles service for $400. Includes flushing all fluids, brakes, etc. I just had new brakes and aftermarket rotors put on it because the morons couldn't figure out that the stock rotors warp (they all do, poor design). Question is this... Do I REALLY need to have the fluids flushed and replaced? IE: brake fluid, coolant, etc? Seems like bullshit to me. |

Re: okokok... NON-MARO Question
Ohh, I don't know about all that, but at 30k miles, you really need them to check the muffler bearings and blinker fluid
They're trying to play you like a fiddle Jim, it's just a sales gimmick. Oh and of course in the process of this "much needed preventive maintnance" you know the lil twerp will be calling, "um sir, we kind of found something that needs attention" ![]() Now, here's the kick in balls, manufacturers have always printed this kind of shit up in the service manuals, but some of them now are starting to void warrenties if it's not followed, needed or not. This is why I buy beaters with heaters and drive 'em til they die. |

I'll have to dig out the warranty and check it out. BUT considering the manual recommends oil changes every 7,000 miles... I'm thinking the only thing that will be require is routine maintenance. Hopefullly it'll say that brakes fluid and coolant flushes are NOT routine maintenance. |

Re: okokok... NON-MARO Question
They all say 5-7K "normall driving conditions", but "heavy to severe use" requires every 3k. I stick with the old fashoned 3, but if the oil still looks clean I'll push a little past, but never over 4,500.
it should break down what service is "recommended' at what mileage/time. What I would do in the near future tho is get a hydrometer ($2) and check the protection level of the coolant. |

Re: okokok... NON-MARO Question
I brought my maro in thursday, and they're still 'checking' the teperature problem today. The problem with this is I KNOW it's gonna cost some money but If they don't call me in time they cna't do the work and I lose ANOTHER day...why my car, why?
*adds one more day and they've had the damn car for a week.

okokok... Dylan THANKS - I'll do that, didn't think about it, good advice.
QUICK?!? What the hell is with the random hi-jacking of everyones' threads to post unrelated updates on your maro? Put it in one of the 30 threads you already have going.

Re: okokok... NON-MARO Question
That does seem funny, they say new cars can go 100k w/ no tune up. Or radiator flushes. So I would say they are trying to screw you over...

Re: okokok... NON-MARO Question
I don't care how many miles the claim, reality is a cumbstion engine needs maintnance and clean parts.
I especially love it now as people are hitting that 100k mark and going for service and most place won't touch em because nobody ever atleast took the plugs out and put new anti-sieze on em, leaving them practically welded in the head. Wait, what's that, off in the distance? Is it a bird,? Is it a plane? NO, it's Quicksilver_28 with another random fucking post!!!

Re: okokok... NON-MARO Question
Not sure about kia's warranty, but hyundai if you don't do their required 60k service (for $800), they void the warranty. The bulk of the work they do with this is check the timing chain. Not replace it, but just check it. Read the fine print, they may have snuck something like that in there, then think about how much the vehicle is worth at that point, is it worth it for the warranty? Didn't think so with the hyunday, why pay $800 to check the damn chain when for another $150 it can be replaced? Just my
on the issue.
