Grinding sound between gears (Spec-V)
A friend of mine bought a 2006 Spec-V and it makes a grinding sound between the gears, I was wondering if it might have something to do with the strut bar, because my 1.8 has that problem going into reverse. If anyone knows what that grinding sound may be coming from please let me know. Another question is which is the best brand for a spec v CAI? Thanks.

Re: Grinding sound between gears (Spec-V)
give it some time to break in and the gringing should go away, you could also try switching to redline mtl gear lube to add some protection

Re: Grinding sound between gears (Spec-V)
its either grinding because
A: the syncros are going in the shitter, or B: your buddy needs to learn how to drive a manual syncros dont need to break in. they just do what they do. lemme guess, your 1.8 is an automatic. manual transmissions dont make the motor lurch like automatics do, so its not your strut bar. since im assuming he got the car brand new, he just needs to learn how to drive it. but just in case, have him take it to a dealer, since it should be still under warranty. have them replace the transmission.

Re: Grinding sound between gears (Spec-V)
Best brand for a CAI? I would stick with NISMO....it may be pricey, but it's a factory component designed for use with the vehicle.
