Wink Re: 91 buick regal starting problems

Recently I had a similar nightmare (lasted 3 weeks).Since I had an alarm installed prior to this I figured thats the bogey. The installer upon checking found the gear selector was not fully engaging in Park. The procedure was to turn ignition to the on position, and pull lever all the way down and jam it back into park. 2 or 3 attempts and the car would start.
Now I'm considering dismanlting neutral safety switch on tranny to adjust selector......all points in that direction.Done it before so it's a 10 min. job. Lazy right now lol.
Another thing to consider is the indicator switch in steering column. I had problems there about 7 months ago. In both these cases there are electrical/copper contacts which wear. The main contact (selector) which runs over all 5 (PND21)of them tends to weaken with age. I just pushed down on it and it fixed the problem.Use contact cleaner and put lottsa goop in it and you're done.I was quoted $268 for the part at NAPA..... lolol
It's always a good idea to refer back to what jobs/repairs were done last, and follow the trail.
