how to adjust valves in a 2.8

I've been trying to adjust the valves in my 2.8 and I can't seem to get it to work. If anyone has a very detailed way of doing this please let me know. The haynes manual sucks.

I may be 2% wrong here, but that leaves me 98% near certain, there is no adjustment.
