Fan blower motor control
The Ac and Heat (i.e the fan) only work when the switch is on 3, 4 and 5. This is, apparently, a sure sign that the blower motor control needs replacing (is this the correct name?). If I get the part, where is it located on a 2000 Venture (or Montana -- they are the same)?
How do one replace these things? Thanks in advance ice |

Re: Fan blower motor control
Hey ice,
I would go for the Blower Motor Resistor Pack BEFORE the Control Module. They are famous for going bad a little bit at a time. It should be mounted close to the blower motor, which is probably on the passenger side of the lower dash. Just follow the wires from the motor back a few inches and you will find the resistor pack. Take Care,

Re: Fan blower motor control
Hi ice,
I have just replaced my blower motor resistor pack on my 99 Venture. Like GregA suggests I would suspect that in your instance. In my van I lost all but high speed. It depends on where the resistor pack goes bad. I paid about $50 at the dealer. They have been redesigned since mine came off the line - probably due to too many failures. If you can find the blower motor you can find the resistor pack. It is under the passenger's dashboard. Connected to the motor is a pigtail wire that connects to the resistor pack. It has 3 bolts holding it in. The rear two only have to be slighly loosened since the r pack has open slots at the rear. I think I saw a drawing of it at rockauto.com |
