Intake Gaskets..now Gurgle Gurgle

Hey guys,
I just had the intake gaskets replaced on the truck. When I was pulling away from the shop, I heard the famous gurgle gurgle coming from the dash. Would this be expected? Is it just air and will it just work itself out? I added a bit of coolant when I get home in the resevoir tank. Also, its a new 16 lbs rad cap from a month ago.

Thanks!!

Re: Intake Gaskets..now Gurgle Gurgle

Hi,
Yes I read that. Coolant was already up to the neck. I did add a bit to the tank though. BlazerLT said to give it a good 50 miles or so...thats why I was wondering if I should give it a while to work itself out or take it right back to the shop

I'd give it a while, and just watch both the temp gauge, and the coolant level. You've got lots of time before you'll really need a working heater again, so what's the rush

Re: Intake Gaskets..now Gurgle Gurgle

The heater core is small and clogs easily - had this before after intake and after radiator replacement. If 80-100k and you never changed the Dex Cool before then it may be ready to replace but a flush usually cleans it out - how to do without doing the whole system - buy 3 ft of 5/8 and 3/4 heater hose, cover the dist with plastic bag or something, remove the ones from the firewall and stand them upwards so coolant stays in the rest of the Blazer, then just slide the 3 ft pieces on and hang them out the side, flush thru with garden hose pressure so you don't blow the core - you can try both directions till the water runs freely and clean. Often if the intake gasket goes the heater core follows due to the crap in it with pin holes that blow and you smell Dex in the vents. Keep an eye on the waterpump too and watch for small drips out the 2 holes that signal crap got in the seals there too - it happens. Good luck.

Give it time, it will gradually displace the air.

The system will need time to purge itself.

I to did have the gurgling but over time it disappears.

A quick way of getting that air that is trapped in there is to put the truck up on a pair of ramps front end up, or on a good incline angle with the front end higher than the back. Take the rad cap off, start it up and it will purge within a few minutes. Top-up the rad and throw the cap back on.

Re: Intake Gaskets..now Gurgle Gurgle

Hey guys,
Just to update, the gurgles have all disappeared! Took a couple of days and a couple of top offs. The first time I did it, I forgot to turn the heat on. I got her the 2nd time though. Is it ok that I mixed green anti-freeze with the orange? HAHA, just kidding!!

Thanks a bunch!

Are you sure they don't have a valve?

Re: Intake Gaskets..now Gurgle Gurgle

Got two 98s, 99, 01 and none have any heater control valve and I've done all 4 intakes and had 2 of them gurgle after and flushed just the core to solve with water only. One hose direct to WP (think the 5/8) and other 3/4 to intake. 3 of 4 have new heater cores cause over 100k.

Since when does the intake have the heater control valve?
