dash cluster conversion

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevy...73063515QQrdZ1

what i was thinking is just replacing mine with that one, my current one just has the speedo in the middle, the fuel on left, and water temp on right, no tach, what im wondering though is will this pretty much be a direct bolt on, or will i have to do a shit ton of wire splicing and shit like that, also, i already have a tach adaptor installed, not sure if ill need that...... and finally, im curious about the whole issue of fraud, since that cluster has about half the miles my current one has....

Re: dash cluster conversion

You should be able to just put it in and be fine, as I do believe all the gauges are controlled through a port behind the dash. As far as fraud, just don't advertise your car as having mileage other than what it really has. Besides, mileage is also stored elsewhere in your car's computer.

Re: dash cluster conversion

I don't know about that year model, but the direct swap worked for me in my 01, and since my milage is digital, it showed correct for me.

Re: dash cluster conversion

No, other than what I already said.

01Cavy is right for the 00+ models. However, pre-00 the odometers were mechanical, so it won't show properly.

Mine was direct swap. No additional wiring necessary. I've yet to see anyone do the conversion on the 99 and below models, so I don't know how it will work for those. Only way to find out is to try!

Re: dash cluster conversion

Like I said it was a direct swap. My car was already wired as if there was a tac, just there wasn't one. So when I swapped them outh, the plugs fit perfectly and the tac worked perfectly...

http://gambit.team-nz.com/tac.asf

Thats a short video I made to prove the tac works on a direct swap. It's a 2.2 slow ass car so don't pay any attention to the speedo lol...it doesn't impress! If the link doesn't work go into windows media player click file then click open url and past that link in there.

Re: dash cluster conversion

No, I had to turn and I was moving the camera where I could turn the wheel and keep it on the tac without the steering wheel getting in front of the camera.
