Steering gear box

Few days ago, I had a weird leak.

Its coming from the RETURN line on my steering gear box, it leaked most of my powersteering fluid out over night, and The car wasnt moved barely.

We started it and it just leaks faster.

Is this real common? Im going to take the return line out and see if its corroded or anthing, but it was just a weird leak to suddenly pop up.

Not weird, if the hose is old it could have failed.

the return line is the low pressure one with clamps on it, not the hi pressure hydraulic pressed together one piece one

check condition of the hose especially at the clamps

it will be a very minor problem that even a monkey could correct

Yeah I know its the reutrn line, but its not leaking from the rubber hose, its coming from the fitting on the gear box, its a metal line then to a rubber one

I took the fitting off, and its kind of corroded, im going to buy a new metal pipe bend it like my old one and put it on and see if it still leaks.

It could be the rubber O-ring seal on the interface end.

Is this on the gear box were the flared end goes into it?

What year is your car? They stopped using flared ends in 1979.

mine is a 87, but the metal pipe i took off my gear box, has kind of a flared looking end to it.

is that just the way the pipe looks?

They do sort of look like they may be flared, but they will have a shoulder on the "flare" end and the O-ring goes on this shoulder -
