Are you serious?
People really do race for money! Sure 99% of street racing is unplanned spur of the moment sort of thing but yes people do race for money.

When its organized planned out sort of thing you usually throw a bet in there, not like 5K but a 100 bucks here and there.

Ive had guys take off on me and not pay up but so what? its not like they took my money and when ever they show up again they usually get kicked out of every spot they hit.
It can get violent but thats why I never bet too much, no ones gonna get shot over 50 bucks or even a c-note.

it was a joke, i know there's money involved. most of the races i've been to with money involoved were rigged, the insiders knew who'd win and who'd lose. i know it's not like that everywhere though.

Re: Street race for money

i raced a mercedes CLK last night in the corvette. bastard gave me a thumbs down cuz i wouldn't blow a red light to keep racing. w/e. i never would've been able to beat him cuz the 'vette is an automatic and he obviously had a manual. boo but i could easily keep up hehe. so i raced some boys in a buick that were checkin us (me and the car) out to make me feel better.

Re: Street race for money

CLK's don't come in manuals.... only automatics. That goes for the last 5 years they were built, in both CLK320 and CLK430 models.

I think you could of gotten him. The CLK430 has 275hp in a 3300lb car, compared to the 300hp LT1 in the 3200lb C4 you're driving.

I'd say it would of been pretty close, infact I'd wager you'd put the hurt on him after you passed 60mph with the Vette having the slippery'er body and smaller frontal area you should for all intensive purposes just start walking away after about 80mph.

Now, unless you raced a SLK, those you can get in manual. The SLK230 Kompressor has a true manual... but only 190hp. So, either way, whichever car you raced I think you'd win.

CLK430

SLK230 Kompressor

Re: Street race for money

yeah idk watching him accelerate and drive i would've swore i saw him shifting. when i passed him earlier i thought it said CLK320 but i could've remembered that wrong. and that's what the guy who i was with said, that had we gotten up higher i would've had it. but the pussy gave me a thumbs down and took the exit ramp immediately. i was right in it tho that was my first real race in that car, usually no one will have a go against a corvette

anyone else wanna race me?
