'02 S15 200SX vs '02 Skyline GT-T

Was just checking out the Nissan NZ Website......

List price of a Skyline GT-T is $64.495
List price of a 200SX is $45.495

200SX is 184Kw, 1280Kg (SR20DET)
GT-T is 208Kw, 1420Kg (2500cc 6 cyl Turbo), has some more safety features.

Edit: Prices listed are with 6 speed manual transmission for the 200SX, and 5 speed manual for the Skyline.

Thought this might be an interesting comparison cos I can't see the extra money in the Skyline, execpt if you *need* more space maybe.

That’s actually a really good comparison. Both are really nice looking cars, however for me the Skyline wins (I’m also biased because that will be the next car that I buy! ). The Skyline has a bit more power (206kw vs 184kw) and is also a 6 cylinder which always sounds better in my opinion. The Skyline is a bit heavier (1410kg vs 1240kg), but the extra engine capacity of the Skyline (2.5L vs 2L) makes up for that. Both respond very well to modifications so that’s not a concern. I looked at both at a car dealer in Auckland and when put side by side, the Skyline just blew the S15 away in looks. It just looks so impressive and a lot more aggressive. It all depends on what you are looking for really as the S15 is a lot more sportier.

I also just wanted to point out that the GT-t was selling for $NZ40,000 a few weeks ago as that’s the end of the R34. No more R34s! Needless to say they sold out very quickly.

For Real?

Thats funny because I thought the 200SX was ending its run next year as well......seems like they are both going to be replaced by the 350Z (?)

Yep. Apparently it has annoyed rather a lot of people who paid $65,000 for their GT-t and then they reduced them to $40,000 making the resale value drop enormously. I can see how you’d be pretty peeved with that much of a drop in price if you paid full price a few weeks earlier.

Apparently they have also brought out an up-specced S15 recently. Bigger wheels, more options for the same price (I think).

True, but the list price is actually $39,995 for that version

Those prices dont sound so bad. There are other cars I'd rather have, but I'd pick the Skyline between the two of them.
