Stop dinging you stupid car!!!!

Alright, heres my problem with my 96: Whenever i open the drivers door it constantly chimes like the keys are in the ignition or the headlights are on. While chiming i cannot LOCK the drivers door when OPEN. Now sometimes it will not chime(ding, whatever) and i can lock the power door. If the door is closed it will work. The locks work fine on all other doors while chiming. I also had a problem with my headlights, dash lights, and parking lights not working when i first got the car and i ended up having to wire around the LCM to get them to work. The DRL's worked, but as soon as it got dark nothing would work. I pull the headlight switch and i'm positive it was working. I have surfed through about every thread on here trying to find the answers. I have a feeling all of these are related in some way. The security light on the dash does NOT come on during normal driving conditions, i drive the car daily.

Re: Stop dinging you stupid car!!!!

I did that and found multiple broken wires including one for the power widow on the passanger side. Could the lamp control module(LCM) being faulty contribute to this? That is my guess. Anyone else have some input?

Re: Stop dinging you stupid car!!!!

If you push the elec. door lock and the door is open and the car dings, thats a feature, it means the car will lock automatically after all doors are closed, great for getting my daughter out. I don't remember how its programmed but your owners manual will tell you how to disable if you wish.
