84' F-150 straight 6 - 300... Problem started out being an intermintent start. Once started would run great, but when parked and let to cool could not start. Checked all wiring and found alot of brittle wiring. Replaced connectors and spliced in good wire. Truck started great, but then intermitence starting again. Threads and co-worker suggested the pick-up or stator. So I pulled the distributor and replaced the stator. Distributor good condition. Reassembled distributor after making sure of TDC. Check resistance on coil before applying voltage, also checked plug wires and decided to replace them. Once everything installed no spark from the distributor. So now the truck won't even start. I have already purchased a new Cap/ Rotor kit to install, since they cost so little, just have not installed yet. Although I do not believe this is the problem since it did start prior to the stator replacement. I have already had the module tested - He ran the test (7) seven times to heat it up and each time worked as it was supposed to. Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.

if your truck is running a little hot, a thermostat might help the problem. keep your eye on the temp gauge and if it does not stay at same position at opperating temp durring driveing replace it.

Re: 84' Ford F-150 Starting Issues
Thermostat is fine at this point, at least when the truck was running.
Now just can't get to start. |
