Please Help!

I bought a 97 Kia Sportage about 4 months ago. I got to drive for about 30mins. and it died on me. Well, come to find out it had a blown head gasket and a warped head. I have now got all the stuff to replace it and can not find the head bolt specs. Does anyone know what they are and if I need to replace the head bolts? Oh yeah, it has a 2.0 cam 4 cyl. 4x4. If anyone could PLEASE HELP. I can't even find a book for the car.

Re: Please Help!

Hi Jenny I have sent a message to a few forum partners who have more experience with "extreme" conditions and invited them to reply here. Indeed technical info is harder to get since KIA decided to cut its free information center and ask a fee for the same. May be you would be interested anyway at www.kiatech.com

Edit: AIRDALE73013 says: "The service manual list the torque for the head-bolts at 62 ft-lbs."

Re: Please Help!

Thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!! I have went everyhwere that you can think of to find that info. I have even tried to buy the manual at stores that are supposed to have it. And no one could get it. I also went to the dealer ship and they said they didn't know what it was. But the dealer ship said they could fix it for far more than what I could afford. But, I do have one more question, do I need to replace the head bolts?

Re: Please Help!

IF you checked the link I sent you, there is no definite recommendation on that matter. The shop manual would have mentioned it clearly if it were the case. I remember when I did that on my late Dodge Omni, the shop manual made a clear statement about installing new bolts.....mmm...I kept the original anyway, shame on me, and got away with it.
