wierd problem
my daughter has a 2001 ford taurus sel. the other nite the car just "died" no power. all the lights would'nt work, car wouldn't turn over no starter click nothing except the radio light was on. after a few minutes everything came back on car started and she made it home. the fuel gauge went from half to a quarter back up to a half , the tach has gone crazy,(jumping around) the cigaret lighter continously blows fuses, and once in awhile she says she smells electrical burning. car has new battery. the electrical seems possesd. any thought?

Re: wierd problem
Did all of this start after replacing the battery?
Make sure the battery cables are clean and tight. You should remove both terminals from the battery posts and clean them inside as well. Also, if the cables have the temporary bolt-on terminal ends, throw the cables away and replace them with molded battery cables. The temporary ends allow corrosion to wick under the insulation of the cable and corrode the copper strands. Many of the issues you describe could be the result of a bad connection, be it loose or dirty. Pay close attention to where the negative cable connects to the chassis of the car too. If you check out all of this and no change is seen in your issues, post back with any new information. -Rod |

Re: wierd problem
Don't you just love it when you try to help and they don't care enough to let you know what was wrong or if you helped them?
